Escape to a simpler life with Llinos and Geraint

An original Feather Down and our first farm in Wales, Pant y March is in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park. You will be staying with Geraint and Llinos Jones, who bought the farm in 2007 - Llinos’s grandfather was born there more than a century ago. In keeping with the mountainous nature of the farm, they keep 200 ewes, a few cows, some chickens with everything being kept in place by the sheepdog. It is the most mountainous of all of our Feather Down’s with far reaching panoramic views across Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), the largest natural lake in Wales. You can enjoy a Welsh language version if you scroll down.

Adventures in Snowdonia

Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) in Snowdonia, North Wales is second to none for water activities and a fantastic addition for your holiday. You can rent canoes, paddle boards, sailing and rowing boats at the foreshore in Bala, along with whitewater rafting at the Tryweryn centre. For early morning wild swims nothing beats the tranquil beach at Llangywer, one mile walk from the farm. For those who enjoy biking, the nine mile flat cycle track along the estuary from Dolgellau to Barmouth is a short drive away, as well as the world famous Coed y Brenin mountain biking centre. Hope in the car and head to Zip World in Llechwedd if you fancy a thrill or even head down to the caves in North Wales. If you leave the car for the duration of your holiday, there are endless walking paths in all directions from the farm, to the top of the mountain behind the farm or the 2 ½ miles to the village pub, with the icing on the cake being a narrow gauge railway journey back to Llangywer!

What to do at Pant y March

Due to its mountainous location and an absence of heavy machinery, the farm is a peaceful haven, where visitors young and old are encouraged to roam freely as befits a family holiday in Bala & Snowdonia. As the day draws to a close you can enjoy spectacular sunsets across the lake, viewed from your private hot tub (if you have booked a tent with one).

Mae Pant y March wedi ei leoli yn Ne Parc Cenedlaethiol Eryri yn un o ffermydd cyntaf i sefydlu partneriaeth hefo Featherdown Farms yng Nghymru. Bydd y croeso gan Geraint a LLinos Jones yn gynnes. Mae Llinos o'r ardal ac yn y ty yma y ganed ei thaid dros ganrif yn ol a symudodd y teulu yma yn 2007. Hon yw y fferm mwya mynyddig o ran tirwedd o holl ffermydd sydd yn rhan o 'Featherdown Farms' ac mae y golygfeydd o Lyn Tegid a'r Arenig yn odidog. Lle perffaith i fwynhau gwyliau yn Eryri.

Mae Llyn Tegid yn atyniad poblogaidd ar gyfer gweithgareddau dwr. Gallwch logi canw, padlfwrdd, cwch hwylio a chychod rhwyfo oddi ar y traeth yn y Bala, ynghyd a rafftio dwr gwyn ar yr Afon Tryweryn. Ar gyfer nofio gwyllt, does dim safle gwell na'r traeth yn Llangywer, milltir o'r pebyll. Ar gyfer y rheiny sydd yn mwynhau beicio hamddenol hefo'r teulu mae na lwybr beics bendigedig sydd yn dilyn hen reilffordd am naw milltir o Ddolgellai i Bermo yn ogystal a Choed y Brenin i rai sydd yn chwylio am brofiad beicio mwy anturus. Os y penderfynwch adael y car yn ystod eich gwyliau mae digonedd o lwybrau cerdded yn arwain o'r fferm i ben y bryniau neu i dafarn Yr Eagles yn Llanuwchllyn gyda thaith tren yn ol i Langywer ar hyd Rheilffordd LLyn Tegid.

Meet your hosts

Llinos and Geraint

We are the Jones family, Geraint, Llinos and daughter Martha, and we purchased Pant y March in 2007. The family has had a long association with the place as Llinos’ grandfather was born here more than a century ago.

Pizza oven

Highlight

Pizza night

The farmer will usually fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Farmer stood next to field pointing down a farm lane to a man and woman, with rolling hills, lake, trees and blue skies in distance

Highlight

Ask the farmer

The farm tour is a must if it’s on offer during your stay. But you don’t wait till then. The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about farm life at any time.

Honesty shop - room with fridge/freezer and shelves with tins, packets and local food available to buy

Highlight

The farm shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.
