Escape to a simpler life with Kate and James

Located in the heart of the Mendips, South Bristol and Bath in beautiful Somerset, this 1,000 acre farm stretches the length of Cheddar Gorge - the ideal spot for a family holiday in Chedder Gorge. You will get a peek into the world of sheep and cattle farming with the Small family who have been a part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme and Red Tractor accredited for over 20 years. Formerly known as Feather Down Cheddar Gorge, Warren Farm welcomes hundreds of lambs during May before they graze land for the National and Somerset Wildlife Trusts. Its wide-open expanses also welcome film crews – you may have seen Warren Farm in episodes of One Man and His Dog, Casualty and Poldark, to name but a few.

Explore the Mendips

Cheddar Gorge has been voted the second greatest natural wonder in Britain, so try the stunning 60 minutes (subject to ability!) Gorge walk or the Black Rock Limekiln walk. Head along to Cheddar and visit the home of its last cheese producer, Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company. Nearby visit Wookey Hole Caves for all ages located on the edge of the Mendips in Somerset. Want a city buzz? Bristol and Bath are just 40 minutes away. If you’re feeling beachy, take a trip to the Weston-super-Mare, a 30-minute drive. Somerset has so much to offer and at Warren Farm, you are ideally placed for a family holiday in Cheddar Gorge & Somerset.

What to do at Warren Farm

With its awe-inspiring size, the farm makes a great natural playground but there is also a real one with its slides, swings and sand pits. While the children play, sit outside on the deck chairs with your favourite book or indulge in some bookable hamper options provided by local suppliers here in Somerset. There's a communal barn with pool table and table football, along with charging points for any essentials. Experience a tractor and trailer ride around the farm where you'll learn more about farm life in the hills (small fee applies, subject to availability during school holidays). Once the sun sets, marshmallows and hot chocolate from the honesty shop make a great evening treat. Share your adventures round the campfire at the day’s end watching the Somerset sunset, before retiring to your comfortable bed.

There is electric car charging available at Warren farm.

Highlight

Pizza Night

The farmer will usually fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Blue tractor with trailer attached with people inside

Highlight

Ask the Farmer

The farm tour is a must if it’s on offer during your stay, but you don’t have to wait until then. The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about farm life at any time.

Honesty shop with shelves of local goods and fresh milk dispenser on left

Highlight

The Farm Shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.
