Escape to a simpler life with Joy and Kevan

Located in the Shropshire Marches on the way to Wales, Upper Shadymoor is just an hour’s drive from Birmingham and an hour and a half from Manchester in the West-Midlands. At Shadymoor, nature itself is the real star of the show. Through the seasons, you'll experience bluebell woods, wild garlic fields and luscious blackberry bushes. There are spring-time sheep, working dogs, horses and chickens at the farm. Your canvas hideaways are found in an idyllic grassland glade surrounded by woodland. Here you’ll feel worlds away from city life - the ideal Shropshire family holiday so close by to Shrewsbury.

Explore Shropshire

Further afield from this Shropshire holiday spot are the medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow. Shrewsbury boasts over 600 listed buildings and Ludlow is a foodie capital famous for its castle and theatre festival near Herefordshire and markets. For nature lovers, there are plenty of walks in the Shropshire Hills, including the Long Mynd and Stiperstones – most with a pub along the way!

What to do at Upper Shadymoor Farm

The highlight for many guests is the additional water package experience - with hot-tub, wild swimming, kayaks, whoosh and paddle boards. There are many other activities you can book at Upper Shadymoor including pony craft, dusk adventure and a professional masseur too (all bookable directly with Joy). Wellness has always been a speciality at Upper Shadymoor; Kevan’s farm walk focuses on the five senses. Don’t forget to stop by the farm’s honesty shop where you can order fresh bread, pastries and fresh pizza dough. There’s gourmet game available to BBQ, so whatever your choice of evening meal, you’ll find yourself pleasantly contented to enjoy a good night’s sleep in your comfy bed.

Electric car charging is available but unfortunately you cannot bring your dog to Upper Shadymoor.

Meet your hosts

Joy and Kevan

We are Kevan and Joy Fox, both hailing from farming families in neighbouring villages and with plenty of tales of the area to share. We are your hosts, flitting in and out of your stay with our four children, Ivor, Fleur, Lloyd and Gregory.

Welcome to our farm, where the activities we lay on for your holiday are literally inexhaustible.

Highlight

Pizza night

The farmer will usually fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Aerial view of lakes with fields surrounding and trees to each edge

Highlight

Ask the farmer

The farm tour is a must if it’s on offer during your stay, but you don’t have to wait until then. The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about farm life at any time.

Highlight

The farm shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.
