Escape to a simpler life with Anna and Mike

Located in a timeless patch of English Southwest countryside, you will escape the hustle and bustle of city life and discover the stunning peace of Mount Pleasant in Blandford Forum for your next family holiday. Close to Bournemouth & Weymouth, Mike and Anna will teach you all about their family-run farm, home to Hereford and Aberdeen Angus cattle, a flock of ewes, horses, pigs and a collection of poultry. Your canvas hideaways are in the middle of a glorious meadow looking out over your beautiful surroundings - the ideal spot for a Dorset family holiday.

Life in rural Dorset

If the farm isn’t enough to keep you occupied, Mount Pleasant is just a half hour from some of Dorset’s most beautiful beaches – Ringstead and Lulworth Cove being two of our guests’ favourites. The market town of Blandford Forum is just 15 minutes away, with lovely villages on the way and visit the Cerne Giant in by the National Trust. If you feel like venturing further afield, the ruins of Corfe and Wardour castles and the Purbeck Heritage Coast are all within 25 miles of the farm. There are walks such as visiting the Jurassic Safari for a stunning view of the coast and cycling possibilities aplenty – just ask Mike or Anna and they’ll point you in the right direction.

What to do at Mount Pleasant

During the day, grab a cuppa and have a chat with Mike about his days growing up on the farm while the kids play around the meadows. There is no set day or time for a farm tour but he is happy to put on a farm walk for those interested in learning more about UK farming and in Dorset. Uniquely, you can also bring your horse to stay with you, with stable accommodation available at the farm too. Breathe in the fresh country air as you take a vigorous walk towards the farm’s nearest hill at Bulbarrow, and breathe in the fantastic view from the tallest point in Dorset. Or you can simply relax by your canvas hideaway and observe the wildlife going by, you may spot a bat or swallow in the evening. Borrow the firepit for toasting marshmallows or round off the day by firing up the outdoor pizza oven on-site and drink in the blissful setting before you retire to your cosy bed, a perfect end to a perfect Blandford Forum family holiday.

We had such an amazing time at Mount Pleasant. Anna and Mike (and their family) were excellent hosts, showing us round the farm and doing fantastic pizzas in the pizza ovens. It was nice to hear how passionate they are and the kids loved all the animals, especially being able to feed the pigs,The tent itself is absolutely fantastic, beautifully designed, spacious and homely,. The kids loved the bunkers and the cupboard bed and slept really well, and it was so. i’ve lighting the candles at night and just chatting instead of watching a TV or looking at our phones. We even caught a meteor shower on one of the nights. It was the perfect spot to visit with friends and the kids were endlessly entertained playing in the fields, making dens, playing frisbee etc, Will definitely return!

A fantastic experience and a real eye opener as to how a farm is run. Loved being so close to the animals and despite the heavy winds our family had a memorable weekend. Location is ideal with being able to explore rural Dorset at your doorstep and some gorgeous pubs nearby. Will definitely be back soon. Anna and her family were so friendly and amazing to see lambs up close and personal. My daughters didn't moan at all about no electricity or wifi so a brilliant weekend to reconnect as a family!

We always have a great time at Featherdown Farms, and this was no exception. Lovely location, and a welcoming farming family who went out of their way to settle us in. Meadow was a bit soggy but they had left the turf long enough that it wasn’t really a problem - they can’t help the weather! The tents are the best bit, by the end of the weekend you feel as if you could live well as a homesteader and you’ve (sort of) mastered the stove. We will keep exploring the Featherdown Farm portfolio!

A fantastic location with plenty of space between the tents in a lovely big field with glorious views. What we particularly enjoyed about Mount Pleasant was that it is a real working farm, with cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, horses and dogs. It was also truely dog friendly. Anna was quite happy for us to use empty fields for our dog to run round in and gave us local dog walks. She was also relaxed about allowing him to remain off the lead around the tent as long as we were responsible dog owners. Our dog had a ball, like us.Tents were so comfortable and the en suite bathrooms, which we haven’t had before, were a treat. The freshly baked bread each morning was delicious and the pizzas that Anna made for the pizza night were delicious. Despite slightly dodgy weather we had a really great time and will certainly be back to Mount Pleasant. Thank you so much Anna and Mike.

This was our second visit to Mount Pleasant and just as lovely as the first. A beautiful, peaceful spot with the most amazing views, walks and lots to do nearby. Swallows, birds of prey, bats and owls are all there to see (or hear), along with horses, sheep, pigs and some very picturesque cows! Mike and Anna were incredibly helpful as ever, and always happy to chat to our kids about everything going on at the farm. Absolutely top-notch pizzas, too!

Anna and Mike were brilliant hosts - they took time out of their day to take us on a tour of their farm which our kids loved. They could have listened to them and their facts for hours! It’s a lovely, quiet site. Perfect for our small group. The tents were in great condition with everything we needed and delicious pizzas ready for us on the first night. Highly recommend for a fun filled weekend.

Beautiful farm nestled in the undulating Dorset countryside. Endless views across lush fields and meadows. Very friendly hosts Mike and Anna made us feel welcome, showed us around their farm visiting their sheep, pigs, cows and horses. The location works perfectly for visits to the seaside as well as local National Trust properties. Perfect retreat to switch off and really unwind.

Mount pleasant farm was beautiful and so peaceful and Mike and Anna were so welcoming and friendly. The kids loved being able to feed the baby lambs and help around the farmBut I do have to mention the wood burning stove - we’re stove owners and experienced in general with fires. We had to spend hours every day trying to keep a fire alive in the stove. Even after it had been burning for 3+ hours there wasn’t enough heat being emitted to boil water or warm the room. Every other tent was having similar problems.

A very chilled family holiday, really felt like we managed to 'get away from it all' The farmers were so kind and despite being very busy running their farm they went above and beyond for us.

Mount Pleasant is a beautiful, peaceful location with nothing but fields to be seen all around. It was so nice to be able to purchase produce raised on the farm (delicious beef). The family were very welcoming and pizza night in particular was a hit! Great weekend escape.

Totally loved Mount Pleasant farm as a getaway with our family and some friends. The location is beautiful, a calm, serene place with lovely views. This was our first time doing a rustic glam ping experience and I was a little worried as we had a 11 week old baby but it didn’t disappoint. The size of the cabins are great, the hot water shower is a perfect luxury and the beds were ever so comfortable! Our 3 year old son absolutely loved it and it was so amazing to be able to let him run around and jump on the hay barrels, visit the farm yard and be able to run free. The honesty shop is an excellent essential for anything you may have forgotten. The wood fire in the evening makes the cabin so cozy and the BBQ’s are brilliant. I would recommend hiring a camping stove or bringing your own to help speed up any cooking as the stove can take sometime. I would definitely do the farm tour as it’s so insightful to hear and see the workings of a true farm. Definitely do the pizzas as they were delicious and a brilliant activity for kids. Farmer Mike and Anna were so helpful and I would totally recommend Mount Pleasant farm. We will definitely come back again!

Absolutely beautiful, secluded location in Dorset. Only 5 tents so feels very quiet with plenty of space for the children to run around, play cricket and football and they were free to visit the chickens, pigs and lambs whenever they wanted. The farmer took them to feed the cows as well. We visited beautiful Lulworth Cove and walked at Bulbarrow Hill, ate at the Lulworth Cove Inn and The Fox Inn at Ansty, both were very good. Would highly recommend Mount Pleasant Farm!

Meet your hosts

Mike, Anna, Maisy and Josie

We are the Miller family and we run our farm with a little help from Spud the sheepdog. Mike was lucky enough to be brought up at Mount Pleasant along with his older brother and sister.

Looking forward to welcoming you to the Dorset peace and serenity at Mount Pleasant.

Highlight

Pizza night

The farmer will usually fire up the pizza oven during your stay. Everyone gathers round to tell their stories of the day’s adventures and invent pizza toppings you’ll never find on the high street

Farmer holding shovel and pointing over the field with two children listening and watching.

Highlight

Ask the farmer

The farm tour is a must if it’s on offer during your stay but you don’t have to wait until then. The farmer will be delighted to tell you more about farm life at any time.

Highlight

The farm shop

It’s great for the basics and usually even better for local produce and low food miles. And every Feather Down farm shop operates on an honesty basis.
