Options & pricesHow can a place just an hour’s drive out of London feel so secluded and peaceful? You will ask yourself as you arrive at this Bedfordshire farm. This must be the ideal spot for a family holiday close to in Bedfordshire and is just so close to London. Ideal for animal lovers, New Barn is a veritable mini zoo too. Your hosts are Will and Hannah Tongue along with their children Evie, Harry and Fergus. Your canvas hideaways are at the margins of the Blackwell Spinney and face a six-acre field with grazing animals. Taking them all over is the perfect set up for those wanting to organise a gathering, whether it’s for family or friends, you'll make lifelong memories here.
In the unlikely event that you fancy a return to civilisation, Oxford and Cambridge are within easy reach of New Barn – Bletchley Park too if you are into World War Two history. If the gee-gees are more your thing, then there’s the race-track at Towcester, or for petrol-heads Silverstone is close by. Closer to home there is the charming market town of Olney (which happens to be a good wild swimming spot too) or Carlton which you can get to on one of the bikes available to hire at the farm. For another animal-filled day out, Woburn Safari Park is a short drive away where you'll see many creatures great and small. All of these attractions are within an hour of your Bedfordshire holiday location and make a great family day out.
There is a whole menagerie of animals here at this farm stay in Bedfordshire, quite literally - a pig, three farm dogs, sheep, pygmy goats, geese, ducks, chickens and ponies to groom. You might also see and hear badgers, foxes, a variety of owls, woodpeckers and small Muntjac deer, all from the safety and comfort of your canvas hideaway. You can explore the woodland, while the footpath networks and grass field margins all around the farm give you ample space to walk, cycle and go-kart too. Take part in the farm tour where you'll learn lots about farm life here. Did you know, the wheat grown at New Barn goes into making 2 million Weetabix breakfast biscuits each year! When night falls, grab some of Hannah’s legendary homemade dishes from the honesty shop, or cook a hearty stew on your wood-burning stove before you collapse exhausted but happy into your welcome cosy bed.
